New Edition of Guide
to Cellular Products
The second edition of the Circular of Information for the Use of Cellular Therapy Products has been published and is available online.
It includes thorough descriptions of the most commonly used, minimally manipulated HPC products and is intended to be an extension of cellular product labels. Provided is information on definitions, donors, side effects of immediate and delayed immunologic and nonimmunologic complications and a brief discussion of “more than minimally manipulated” products that are prepared under IND.
The Circular of Information was prepared and is endorsed by the AABB, American Association of Tissue Banks, American Society for Apheresis, American Red Cross, America’s Blood Centers, Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy, International Council for Commonality in Blood Banking Automation, International Society for Cellular Therapy, National Marrow Donor Program and ASBMT. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration provided a liaison to the group.
The organizations writing the Circular of Information limited the scope to minimally manipulated cellular products, such as peripheral blood progenitor cells, bone marrow, cord blood and leukocytes, recognizing that there are other cellular products that could not be adequately covered in the publication.
For the time being, the Circular of Information is available only online for download as a PDF file.
