ASBMT and AST Announce
Joint Clinical Research Award
ASBMT and the American Society of Transplantation (AST) have announced a joint Clinical Research Award for new investigators.
The award is a two-year clinical research grant, in the total amount of $80,000, paid in quarterly installments to the recipient’s institution. The deadline for applications is Dec. 2.
The purpose of this grant is to fund research in areas that are of mutual interest to both societies, including histocompatability, immunogenetics, stem cell research and stem cell research for tolerance induction.
Eligibility criteria and additional application requirements:
- The grant is intended for individuals initiating their careers in solid organ or blood and marrow transplantation.
- The applicant may not hold a faculty-level position (Assistant Professor-equivalent or above) or a salaried senior staff position, or equivalent, during the period of the grant.
- The applicant may receive partial or total salary as a postdoctoral fellow or resident from other sources during the grant period.
- The sponsor must guarantee protected time adequate for the completion of this project.
- Individuals applying for the ASBMT/AST clinical research grant must be a member, or sponsored by a member, of either the ASBMT or the AST. Membership in both organizations will be encouraged.
The candidate may not simultaneously hold another full fellowship award.
