Should Transplant Center-Specific
Treatment Outcomes Be Measured
and Reported in a Public Registry?

The question was put to a special committee created by the ASBMT Board of Directors.  The committee’s answers are in a white paper that appears in the May 2006 issue of Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.

The ASBMT Committee on Hematopoietic Cell Therapy Quality Outcomes takes the position that the Society should become involved in the development of protocol for center-specific treatment outcomes measurement and reporting.  The alternative is to have measurement systems that are imposed by public and private entities outside the BMT community.

The complete white paper can be read online.  Biol Blood Marrow Transplant. 2006;5:594-597.
