Publishes NMDP/ASBMT Guidelines

on Transplant Consultation

The November issue of the URN Newsletter, published for clients of the United Resource Networks, features as its lead article the “Guidelines on Recommended Timing for Transplant Consultation,” developed and recently updated by ASBMT and the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). 

The guidelines are intended for patient counseling by referring physicians and for initial discussion during development of a treatment plan that may include transplantation.  They identify prognostic factors for patients at risk of disease progression using standard therapy and suggest, by disease, which patients should be evaluated for transplantation.
