Job Interview DOs and DON'Ts
There are five things that a job candidate must do in an interview, according to Mary Ann Tuft of the job search firm Tuft & Associations, Inc.
· Learn as much as you can about the position, including why the position is open and what the turnover has been.
· Have questions ready that indicate you have done your homework.
· Give credit to teammates rather than taking all the credit.
· Be upfront and forthright about past experiences including terminations, if any.
· Ask what your interviewer sees as the greatest challenge at the organization and his or her expectations for your success.
And five things not to do or say in a job interview.
· Don’t give the impression that you want any other job than the one for which you are being interviewed.
· Do not say negative things about past employers.
· Do not change salary expectations midway through the process.
· “I don’t know” is a much better response than faking an answer.
· Don’t take over the interview. Be a good listener.
