BBMT Earns 3.561 Impact Factor
Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation has earned an ISI Impact Factor of 3.561 – its highest since the journal was founded in 1995.
The ultimate measure of the success of a medical journal is its actual impact on research and clinical practice. However, in an effort to quantify that impact, the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) computes and assigns a numerical "impact factor" to peer-reviewed journals. The number is based on the frequency of citations of the journal’s articles in other scientific publications in a given year.
The new impact factor moves BBMT up to the following positions:
- 4th among 20 transplantation journals
- 16th among 60 hematology journals
- 28th among 114 immunology journals
"We are very pleased with the progress of the journal and the way it is being cited throughout the medical literature," said Dr. Rob Negrin, ASBMT president. "I join with our officers and directors in congratulating the editor-in-chief, Dr. Robert Korngold, the associate editors and the members of the journal's editorial board."
