Comments Sought for Coding
and Labeling Standards
Draft voluntary standards for coding and labeling of cellular therapy products are available for inspection and comment.
The governing boards of 12 national and international cellular therapy organizations, including ASBMT, agreed to develop the standards for the use of ISBT 128 for coding and labeling of cellular therapy products. They established an international advisory group that has been working on the draft standards since October 2005.
The draft documents are available for public comment through Feb. 28. Comments can be submitted on line, as instructed on the Web page.
After consideration of public comments, the advisory group will publish the standards. It is anticipated that accreditation bodies will adopt the standards for the naming and labeling of cellular therapy products.
