Updated RFI Released

The 2008 version of the ASBMT Standardized Request for Information (RFI) has been released.  The RFI is used for submitting essential transplant program data and information to third-party payers when they request it.

Access to Forms

The RFI forms are on the ASBMT Web site where they can be viewed online or downloaded for interactive use.  On the home page, click the navigation link for BMT CENTER MANAGEMENT.  Then select STANDARDIZED RFI.

Before using the updated forms, be sure to check the READ ME and the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS files.

RFI Widely Accepted

The ASBMT standardized RFI is used or recognized by most national health plans, a number that has continued to grow since the RFI was introduced in 2003.  The forms can be submitted directly to the payers.  There is no need to submit completed forms to ASBMT.

Now Recognized by Blues

For the first time this year, the RFI is being accepted by the Blue Distinction Centers for Transplant (BDCT).  This includes all sections:  Administrative Survey, Program Information, and Outcomes Data.  However, BDCT network members will be asked to also complete and submit a supplemental form for additional data on outcomes.

Note Changes

The Read Me notes explain several changes in the Administrative Survey and the Program Information sections of the RFI.   The data requested for these sections are the same as in last year's version, but there are minor changes to the way in which data are entered on the forms.

Comments and recommendations for the next version are always welcome and can be sent to Peggy Appel, vice chair of the ASBMT Committee on Standardization of Outcomes Reporting and RFIs.
